چکیده

In this article we present a derivation of the thermal equations of state of ideal quantum gases by using solely dimensional analysis, thermodynamic considerations and simple physical arguments. The thermodynamic relations of gases depend strongly on the energymomentum relation of the gas particles and on their spin, i.e., whether the particles are fermions or bosons. The energy-momentum relation of free massive particles is given by

Trapped Fermi gases

Trapped degenerate atomic gases provide exciting opportunities for the manipulation and quantitative study of quantum statistical effects, such as the strikingly direct observation of Bose-Einstein condensation @1–3#. Although perhaps not as dramatic as the phase transition associated with bosons, the behavior of trapped Fermi gases also merits attention, both as a degenerate quantum system in ...

Dielectric versus conductive behaviour in quantum gases: exact results for the hydrogen plasma

We study the electrical susceptibility of a hydrogen gas at equilibrium, partially ionized by thermal excitations. The gas is described as a quantum plasma of point protons and electrons, interacting via the Coulomb potential. Using the newly developped diagrammatical technique of screened cluster expansions, we calculate exactly the wavenumberdependent susceptibility in the atomic limit, where...

Scaling approach to quantum non-equilibrium dynamics of many-body systems

Understanding non-equilibrium quantum dynamics of many-body systems is one of the most challenging problems in modern theoretical physics. While numerous approximate and exact solutions exist for systems in equilibrium, examples of non-equilibrium dynamics of many-body systems, which allow reliable theoretical analysis, are few and far between. In this paper we discuss a broad class of time-dep...

Relativistic Quantum Thermodynamics of Ideal Gases in 2 Dimensions

In this work we study the behavior of relativistic ideal Bose and Fermi gases in two space dimensions. Making use of polylogarithm functions we derive a closed and unified expression for their densities. It is shown that both type of gases are essentially inequivalent, and only in the non-relativistic limit the spinless and equal mass Bose and Fermi gases are equivalent as known in the literature.

High-order kinetic flux vector splitting schemes in general coordinates for ideal quantum gas dynamics

A class of high-order kinetic flux vector splitting schemes are presented for solving ideal quantum gas dynamics based on quantum statistical mechanics. The collisionless quantum Boltzmann equation approach is adopted and both Bose– Einstein and Fermi–Dirac gases are considered. The formulas for the split flux vectors are derived based on the general three-dimensional distribution function in v...
